| Background | Mitochondrial chaperone BCS1 (BCS1L) is a ~47 kDa protein. Chaperone necessary for the incorporation of Rieske iron-sulfur protein UQCRFS1 into the mitochondrial respiratory chain complex III. Plays an important role in the maintenance of mitochondrial tubular networks, respiratory chain assembly and formation of the LETM1 complex. 1. de Lonlay, P. et al. (2001) Nature genetics 29, 57-60.
